Liberal Democrats topped the polls across North Herts in the recent local elections

Liberal Democrats topped the polls across North Herts in the recent local elections with 32% of the votes - just ahead of the Conservatives who got 30%. Labour came in third on 26%.

The Liberal Democrats also won eight of the 16 seats up for election this year, ahead of Labour on five and the Conservatives on three.

Liberal Democrat councillors were re-elected in Arbury (Tom Tyson), Cadwell (Louise Peace replacing Sam North), Hitchin Highbury (Keith Hoskins), Letchworth South West (Sean Prendergast), Royston Heath (Bryony May replacing Carol Stanier) and Weston and Sandon (Steve Jarvis).

Two seats were won from the Conservatives: Chesfield (Dominic Griffiths) and Royston Meridian (Matt Barnes).
