Lib Dem councillor takes swift action over live goldfish being given as prizes at Stevenage Charter Fair

28 Sep 2022

Robin Parker, angrily pointed out that in October last year, he asked for Stevenage Borough Council to report on the feasibility of not allowing the giving of live animals as prizes anywhere in Stevenage. However, this motion was weakened by Conservative and Labour amendments to pass responsibility to Herts County Council, and to limit the ban only to Borough Council land. As the event is on HCC land, SBC cannot prevent it andcan only condemn the practice and ask the event organisers not to do it.
