Hannah Hedges claims major success as Liberal Democrats come second in General Election9.33.57pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 24th May 2005
Parliamentary candidate Hannah Hedges was jubilant last night as Liberal Democrats came second behind Peter Lilley, the Conservative candidate. in the general election, with Labour in third place. Hannah Hedges said "This was a very good night for the local Liberal Democrats. We all worked hard for this results and we are grateful for the strong support for the Lib-Dems in this constituency. We increased our vote by over 4,000 and our share of the vote increased from 18% to 26%". The results was: Conservatives 23,627 (50%) Liberal Democrats 12,234 (26%) Labour 10,499 (22%)
